Busy weekend

We had a busy weekend - so we ended up taking naps yesterday. Here is S with her nanny dog - I swear this dog thinks she is the mommy. Every little cry that comes out of S's mouth Coco shoots me a look of "now why did my baby cry, you clearly aren't doing your job if the baby cries" really, I have a dog making me feel like an inferior mother.

And of course I have another project for S's room....little bear hooks, I mean how cute are these? Found them at Hobby Lobby in the clearance aisle. The white paint was chipping pretty bad, so after some time with the Dremmel tool they are....
Little chocolate brown bears! I think I will give them little pink hair bows, or maybe pink bow ties. I thought I could make them little tulle skirts and make them ballerina bears but when I got to looking at them I thought it would look weird, with their leg sticking up like that for the hook it would cause the tulle skirt to just look strange.

First time in the Bumpo chair

Sarah sat in her Bumpo chair for the first time yesterday - but I think we still need to wait a little while longer because I don't think she is quite ready yet. She can and is holding up her head but she will still lose control of it from time to time.

Of course when we put her in it first thing she did was stick out her tongue at us:

Then I think she realized that this was something new and we got this face:

But this face wasn't anything near to the face I got last night during the Thunderstorm! We finally got some real rain last evening along with thunder and at the first big boom her eyes got REAL big and her little bottom lip started to quiver, I felt horrible for her. So I scooped her up and Jason and I began to laugh and make funny faces about the thunder. She never broke out in to a full on cry so I guess she was okay with it.

It is nice and cool here this morning, 74 degrees. Which is like being in the Arctic for us during this time of the year. We usually are still in 100 degree weather. Today will be a nice break from the heat!

Random pictures by Jason

This is the kind of picture I find when Jason has gotten a hold of the camera, yes that would be me sleeping blissfully while he wakes up the dogs to take their picture. Clearly we all wake up with bad hair around here.

And he also took the one below of Sarah - this is her new favorite way to suck her fingers. She is in no way interested in a pacifier but finds her fingers fascinating. At least it isn't her thumb....yet.

Four months old!

So now we are officially four months old - and she loves to stick her tongue out. Having researched babies sticking their tongues out I have come across everything from it is a sign of great intelligence to being over stimulated. Personally I think she does it because she can and she finds it something fun to do. Of course it probably doesn't help that when she does it Jason and I stick our tongues out right back at her....we have our own method of communication around here. This week she has really started sleeping for long periods of time. She has always been a good sleeper averaging around 8 hours a night since the second month but now she is going longer to over 10 hours.
Which I love don't get me wrong but the first time she slept that long I was worried.

This second picture is blurry because she was moving around a little too much but I thought it was just adorable. She was tired of the photo session!

Look at what I found!

McCoy pottery! I have been researching this pattern and it looks like it is from the 40's. Of course this is another find from the Great Garage clean up of 2010. I pulled it out because I have some pottery pieces with green leaves and I thought this would look nice with them. Of course I am in the snooty habit of turning over pieces of pottery and china to see if there is a stamp, sticker or mark on them. And I saw this -

I knew I had seen this mark before - where who knows, but of course I came in to do some research on the trusty laptop and find it. So I have cleaned it up and and I think I am going to set it up in the bookcase in the living room, I have the perfect spot all picked out.
I am still researching to see if this is not a fake, but even if it is a fake I like it and will keep it. The set doesn't have any nicks and only some very light crazing on it.
Who knows if this is the real McCoy or not - but I like it very much!

Playtime

And of course the ever faithful nanny is right by her side. Don't worry, I don't leave Sarah alone on the floor with the dogs but even if I did I really don't think they would do anything. But I would rather be safe than sorry so no unsupervised time with the dogs anytime soon.

Sarah lays there and kicks and kicks her little legs to make the songs come on the play gym and Coco just sits there and watches the entire time. When the music stops Sarah starts kicking again and Coco always gets excited when the music begins again. I am not for sure who is having more fun Sarah or Coco.
It is lovely outside today - nice, cloudy and cool! I am going to pack Sarah up and the dogs here after awhile and go for a walk outside. We have to take advantage of the weather while we can because I am sure the boiling hot days of late summer will be back soon.

Where did this big baby come from?

Oh my how she has grown! The first picture is from her first week home, the second is from yesterday and her four month check up at the doctor's office. Such a difference, she was so tiny when we brought her home and the doctor was worried about her weight. We clearly do not have that concern anymore.
The doctor's visits are difficult for me because she gets her shots and it just kills me to hear her cry afterwards. The first time she got her shots I cried my eyes out as well but I was able to keep it together this time.
So her stats (for my Mom) are:
Weight - 14lbs 5oz
Height - 24in
Head Circumference is 41.5cm......so we have a big headed baby as I knew that we would, I mean of course she will have my smarts and it is difficult to have brains like mine in such an adorable little head!
